Work

CoastalOps Consulting is a technology advisory practice for small and mid-market Canadian businesses facing consequential technology decisions. Not just which system to buy, but whether they’re ready to buy it, what the implementation is actually going to cost, and whether the vendor sitting across the table is being straight with them.
The work covers technology strategy, vendor selection, and implementation readiness. That means helping clients understand what a project will actually require, not the optimistic version in the sales deck. It means being in the room before contracts are signed. And it means staying honest about what the organization can absorb, because a technically correct decision made at the wrong time is still a bad decision.
I don’t implement. I advise. That separation is intentional: my value is in helping you make a sound decision before the commitment is made, not in managing the project after it’s locked in. Organizations that have been through a failed implementation understand why that distinction matters.
That perspective comes from experience on the other side of the table. Before founding CoastalOps, I spent seventeen years as Director of IT at Cosmo Music, where I was the person making those calls and living with the outcomes. I know what good advice looks like because I needed it, and didn’t always get it.
