Peter Fudge, technology advisor and consultant

Technology advisor. Wind band conductor. Someone who has spent a career at the intersection of complex systems and the people who have to live with them.

For 17 years I led IT at Cosmo Music, Canada's largest musical instrument retailer, before founding CoastalOps Consulting to help small and mid-market Canadian businesses make smarter technology decisions. Outside the office: conducting, saxophone, and a few decades of coaching youth across hockey, curling, softball, and soccer.

Based in St. John's, NL. Working across Canada.

Work

I'm the founder of CoastalOps Consulting, a technology advisory practice serving small and mid-market Canadian businesses. I help organizations make smarter decisions about technology: what to buy, when they're ready to implement, and how to avoid the traps that derail so many projects. I've been on the inside of large-scale implementations and know where the hard questions need to be asked.

Music & Leadership

I play saxohphone, conduct two wind bands in St. John's, and have coached youth across hockey, curling, softball, and soccer for more than two decades. It turns out that band rehearsals and coaching benches are excellent places to learn about leadership.

Writing & Speaking

I'm working on a nonfiction book about cross-domain leadership and mental preparation in youth development, drawing on more than 25 years across music, sport, and organizational life. I speak about technology leadership, organizational change, and what conducting a wind band has to do with building teams that perform under pressure.
